Three types of schools in the same area

Around Fabrica de Glucoză (the Glucose Factory) you find three kinds of schools. The first category is public schools, located in Sector 2 and Sector 1. The second is Romanian private schools. The third is international schools, further north, in Voluntari. The guide has a separate page for each school.

Public schools in Sector 2

On Bulevardul Dimitrie Pompeiu there are two technological schools: Colegiul Tehnic „Edmond Nicolau” (a technical college), founded in 1971 as a vocational school of electronics, and Liceul Tehnologic „Constantin Brâncuși” (a technological high school), which started in 1948–1949 as an apprentice school. Toward Floreasca, on Strada Garibaldi, are Liceul Teoretic „C.A. Rosetti” (a theoretical high school; it has had the high school name since 1959) and Școala Gimnazială „Maria Rosetti” (a middle school with primary grades). In the Tei area is Liceul Teoretic „Traian” (a theoretical high school), whose building has had school functions since 1945.

The Învățământ Sector 2 portal lists the sector’s schools, with address, levels and, for many, a short history. The enrollment plan and the assignment of students are confirmed with each school and with the school inspectorate.

Public schools in Sector 1

To the west, on Strada Borșa, is Școala Gimnazială „Herăstrău” (a middle school with primary grades), with grades from the preparatory grade through grade 8. The school traces its beginnings to 1888.

Private schools

On Strada Oltețului is Liceul Teoretic „Sfinții Trei Ierarhi” (a theoretical high school), a private school with a preparatory grade and a high school. Olga Gudynn International School is a group of kindergartens and schools with the national curriculum, the Cambridge curriculum and the IB Diploma.

International schools further north

In Voluntari there are four international schools: American International School of Bucharest, British School of Bucharest, Cambridge School of Bucharest and Mark Twain International School. Each declares its own curriculum, from the National Curriculum for England to the International Baccalaureate programs.

Higher education

Universitatea Tehnică de Construcții București (the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest) has its main seat at Bulevardul Lacul Tei no. 122–124, in Sector 2. It became an independent institution in 1948, and has been called a university since 1994–1995.
