Șoseaua Fabrica de Glucoză (literally “Glucose Factory Road”): the 2018–2020 works to widen it to four lanes
Șoseaua Fabrica de Glucoză is a 1.8-kilometer road between Șoseaua Petricani and Calea Floreasca. According to the project as described in the press in June 2020, it was widened to four lanes, with bike lanes, in works that began in October 2018.
A road between Petricani and Floreasca
The modernization project for Șoseaua Fabrica de Glucoză describes a road of about 1.8 kilometers, between Șoseaua Petricani – Nodul A3 (the A3 interchange) and Calea Floreasca, according to Agerpres, in June 2020.
Four lanes, bike lanes and sidewalks
The technical design provides for two lanes in each direction, each 3.5 meters wide. On the sidewalks there are bike lanes of 1.5 meters in each direction, and the sidewalks are 2 meters wide in the design, but in some areas they are narrower because of the works and the tree pits. Wall-Street.ro adds that trees were planted in pits and that the street lighting is modern.
The 2018–2020 works
According to Agerpres on June 9, 2020, which repeats the statements of the then general mayor, the site was handed over to the contractor on August 3, 2018, and execution began on October 29, 2018. The initial 15 months ended on January 29, 2020. The delays were blamed on the impossibility of closing traffic completely and on unforeseen works, including the redesign of the Intrarea Chefalului area. The project was also to replace almost 500 meters of the hot-water main that supplies the Aviației neighborhood.
Opening in sections
Wall-Street.ro wrote on June 25, 2020 that the Petricani – Barbu Văcărescu section had opened to traffic, and the section toward Calea Floreasca was announced for about two weeks later. Agerpres wrote on June 9, 2020 that the first section was 98% complete and the second 80%. The contractor was the association of Straco Grup, Tracon and Primacons Group. The cost of the works was about 48 million lei excluding VAT, and the expropriations cost almost 120 million lei, according to statements made in 2020.
